Meet the Nordic combined team

With the Sochi games drawing ever closer, the US Ski and Snowboard Association announced its official Nordic combined A-team. The squad boasts a combination of veteran talent and rising stars. Get to know these guys before they make their big leap at the Winter Games. All information comes courtesy of USSkiTeam.com and Team USA.

Billy Demong

Age: 33

Olympic Medals: 1 Gold, 1 Silver

World Cup Medals: 9 Gold, 6 silver, 7 bronze

The New York native is returning for his fifth Olympic Games, having competed in 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010. In Vancouver, he won his first Olympic medals, including the first gold of any American in the sport.

Demong was the U.S. flag bearer at the closing ceremonies of the Vancouver Games, and he enjoys mountain climbing and cycling in his free time.

Todd Lodwick

Age: 37

Olympic Medals: 1 Silver

World Cup Medals: 6 Gold, 10 Silver, 13 Bronze

Sochi will be Lodwick’s sixth Olympic Games. He competed in 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2012, winning a silver medal in Vancouver for the team event. Lodwick is the most senior member of the US team.

He lives in Steamboat Springs, Colo. When not skiing, Lodwick golfs, hunts fishes and raises his two children.

Taylor Fletcher

Age: 23

Olympic Medals: None

World Cup Medals: 1 Bronze

The Vancouver Games were this Olympian’s first. He’s now returning and is seeking his first Olympic medal in Sochi. The younger brother of teammate Bryan Fletcher, Taylor competed in both Nordic combined and ski jumping in his past Olympic run.

Currently residing in Park City, Utah, he enjoys surfing, golfing, cycling, tennis and soccer when not taking to the slopes.

Bryan Fletcher

Age: 27

Olympic Medals: None

World Cup Medals: 1 Gold, 1 Bronze

This will be the first Olympics for the oldest Fletcher brother, Bryan. He began skiing at 3, the same age he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After years of treatment, he is now cancer free.

Bryan lives in Park City, Utah, and was born in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Besides skiing, he also camps, cycles, kayaks and raises money for cancer research.
